Major Cities

Aarhus is the second largest city and the principal port of Denmark. The main attraction is Den Gamle By (The Old Town) - a fascinating open-air museum featuring 75 restored buildings from all around Denmark dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Architecturally impressive sights include the 13th century cathedral in the center of the city - Arhus Domkirke - the tallest cathedral in Denmark. The Aarhus City Hall is a uniquely designed building drawn by renowned architect Arne Jacobsen, located in the city center.

Founded in 1968, Legoland Billund is the original Legoland Park. All children who play with legos dream of visiting this park. It is split into themed areas which appeal to children in various age groups offering an experience full of creativity and fun. Every building, boat, train and car is constructed from millions of Lego blocks in detail, with incredible craftsmanship. There are models of famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Taj Mahal and a section called Miniland, which is accurately modeled on areas in other countries such as the Rhine in Germany and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Dragon is their oldest coaster, and miniland is a symbol of the country. There are several rides, including a boat ride through pirate caves and train rides.

Located in the largest Lake District in Denmark, Silkeborg is famous for its beautiful nature, with the River Gudena and Denmark's largest connected forest area. Besides the breathtaking views, you can also experience art and culture, as well as cozy shopping in the small pedestrian streets, or spa pampering. Another attraction is the Aqua Freshwater Aquarium - largest fresh water aquarium in Northern Europe, housing the rare freshwater otter, together with birds, fish, newts, frogs, insects and plenty of aquatic plants from lakes, streams and ponds.

WHY CENTRAL JUTLAND?

Central Jutland is the largest and most varied of all Danish regions. This part of Denmark encompasses many different landscapes, from the tranquil beaches of the sheltered east coast to the untamed west coast, powerful by North Sea winds. In between the two coasts are the beautiful rolling hills and forests of the Lake District.
